About: The Cheaper Show is a massive one night art event where all work sells for a uniform affordable price. International artists display work of all mediums in an environment that promotes inclusivity of both artist and patron alike. On June 25th 2011, The Cheaper Show’s 10th anniversary took place in Vancouver’s Mt Pleasant neighbourhood; over 7,000 attendees took part in the event buying over 300 pieces of art in six hours.
Process: For this show, our team converted an old furniture store into a fully-licensed 1,000 person venue. We received and catalogued hundreds of art pieces of varying mediums, created a strong operational plan, and worked closely with our corporate partners to deliver a top-tier community event. Over one-hundred volunteers were scheduled on event night, whose roles ranged from selling the artwork, and managing three fully-functional bars.
